Preset Knob Plug

Preset plug component highlighted in detail, showing the precision-machined adjustment part used in the SEIGLER fly reel assembly.

Preset Knob Plug

Feature:

Silicone Preset Button Cover (E-Clip Conceal + Service Access)

Function:

Press-in silicone button covers the E-clip at the end of the spool shaft.

Creates a clean, flush finish while still being removable for service.

Acts as a light protective cap to keep the retention hardware covered.

Benefit:

Cleaner, finished look: hides the E-clip for a more refined, premium appearance.

Serviceable protection: shields the clip area while remaining easy to remove when maintenance is needed.

More comfortable handling: smooth cover eliminates a hard edge at the knob center.

Simple, reliable solution: press-fit design adds protection without adding complexity.

What did we revise:

Press-in silicone cover conceals the spool-shaft E-clip that ensures preset knob will not come off.

One Liner:

Press-in silicone preset button cover conceals the spool-shaft E-clip for a clean finish—while remaining fully serviceable.

Fasteners Aluminum

Feature:

Galvanic-matched aluminum fasteners

Function:

Eliminates dissimilar-metal coupling

Benefit:

Better corrosion resistance in salt use

Easier serviceability

Weight savings

Galvanic-matched aluminum hardware for corrosion resistance, consistent clamp load, and easier service—especially in salt.

Service advantage: if hardware is ever compromised, aluminum fasteners are easier to drill out, extract, and re-tap than stainless—helping protect the surrounding components.

What did we revise:

Unchanged by design: Galvanic-matched aluminum fasteners—proven corrosion resistance and serviceability since day one.

Wes spent several years working in a boatyard. He saw firsthand how often lower units had to be heated with a torch just to loosen bolts during routine service. The problem was dissimilar metals—corrosion locking parts together under pressure and salt exposure. That lesson stayed with him. Dissimilar metals have no place inside a fishing reel built for saltwater. From that point forward, material compatibility became a standard across our lineup. Every alloy choice is intentional, preventing galvanic corrosion before it starts. Serviceability isn’t an afterthought. It’s engineered from the beginning.

Main Shaft Spool- Spool Retention - E-clip

Main Shaft Spool- Spool Retention - E-clip

Main Shaft Spool- Spool Retention - E-clip

Feature:

Stainless E-Clip Spool Retention (Positive Mechanical Lock)

Function:

A standard stainless steel E-clip seats into a machined groove to mechanically capture the spool with a proven retention method.

Designed for quick, tool-simple removal when servicing or swapping spools.

Uses a standardized clip that’s easy to source and easy to replace (includes a spare in the service kit).

Benefit:

Won’t back out mid-fight: positive mechanical retention helps prevent spool loss compared to threaded or push-button systems that can loosen or release under load or impact.

Fast, straightforward service: remove and reinstall quickly without dealing with seized threads, springs, or complex mechanisms.

Field-ready reliability: standard clip + included spare means you’re covered—simple replacement, minimal downtime.

Consistent across models: standardized retention keeps operation familiar and dependable.

What did we revise:

Nothing was revised

One Liner:

Stainless E-clip spool retention delivers a simple, positive mechanical lock that stays secure in battle—and swaps or services in seconds, with a spare included.

Wes’s time working in a boatyard shaped how he thinks about parts. In that world, when something fails, you don’t wait on proprietary pieces—you fix it with what’s available. Strong. Simple. Replaceable. That mindset carried into our reel design. If a component could be sourced from a local hardware store and still meet our strength standards, that was a benefit, not a compromise. It meant serviceability anywhere in the world. Seychelles guide Josh Herbst confirmed it when he said, “Spools come off all the time. This is perfect. Keep it.” That was field validation. Real use. Real abuse. We kept it because it works, not because it’s clever.
